Straight after finishing remembrance parade pick up loved ones but remain in uniform and head to HMS Sultan

This is an important event not to be missed. Please attend in uniform, followed by a complimentary carvery lunch.

FAQ's

What time will the event finish?

You will be welcome to leave at any time throughout the afternoon, however the bar will close at 23:00 and all guests will need to be offsite by 23:59. 

What is the cost to me?

The group will cover the cost of the meal, you just need to pay for your transport to and from the event, and any drinks you consume in the bar. 

How much are drinks in the bar?

The mess bar runs on minimal profits and therefore the drinks will be significantly cheaper than anything you will get on the high street. Although I don’t know the exact prices a pint will cost you between £2.30 and £3.50….. I know cheap right 🙂 

Is carvery the only option?

Unfortunately yes it is. Due to the numbers this is the only meal option that will be catered for.

Will dietary requirements be catered for?

Yes they will. Please ensure any dietary requirements are listed in the sign up form as this is what will be provided to the caterers. 

Is there a child meal option?

There will be a child carvery but this will just be a smaller portion of the main carvery. 

What meats will be available?

There will be 2 options for you to choose from. This will be Turkey and Gammon (or even a mixture of both). 

Will I be able to park in HMS Sultan

Yes you will. If you intend to drive to the mess please add your car registration to the form so this can be given to the gate staff to allow you on site. 

Vehicles can be left on site overnight if need be but as this is Sunday it would be better if vehicles were removed on Sunday on completion of the event. 

What is the dress code?

For the first part of the event it will be remain in Uniform for the meeting and then for lunch. On completion of lunch you will be invited to get changed out of uniform. (I suggest you bring a change of clothes with you to change. Changing facilities are available)

As it is being held in the Senior Rates Mess in Sultan, Smart causal clothing will be required. 

Points to note are as follows:

  • No flip flops or open toed shoes. 
  • No vest tops
  • No offensive or derogatory slogans to be on display. 
Is smoking/Vaping allowed?

Yes, there is a designated smoking area just outside the mess where you will be able to vape/smoke. 

Which entrance to Sultan do we use?

I you head down military road towards Alverstoke (Cocked Hat pub), turn left into Cambridge Rd, take an immediate right and enter the layby. This is the gate you will need to use to gain entry. 

Do we need ID to get into Sultan?

Yes. Anyone over the age of 16 will require photo ID to gain entry. 

Just drive/walk upto the gate, give the guard your name and show them your ID and he will check you off on the event nominal list and will direct you towards to the mess.
