6th Gosport are committed to educate and develop the young people of Gosport, building a better community with a brighter future. Where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role within society. We hope to achieve this through fun, challenge, and adventure.
Today we pay tribute to our volunteers who are serving members and veterans.
Over 1/3 of our young people have parents that are serving, or veterans. We recognise how important the Armed Forces are for the 6th Gosport, Gosport, and the UK.
We are proudly RAF recognised group number 80, and we are grateful for the amazing volunteers the Forces have given us. Here volunteer and serving member of the Royal Navy Sophie, tells us what she thinks about the links between the Scouts and the forces
Today we celebrate Armed Forces Day, a day that means a great deal to me.
I’m incredibly proud to be the 5th generation in my family to serve in His Majesty’s Armed Forces. It’s a legacy I carry with honour and deep respect.
Within the Armed Forces, we are guided by core values such as Courage, Discipline, Respect, Integrity, Loyalty, and Selfless Commitment. These are values that don’t just shape soldiers and sailors, they build strong, compassionate, and resilient individuals.
What’s remarkable is how closely these values align with those found in Scouting. As someone who’s been involved in both, I’ve seen firsthand how Scouting can lay the foundations for future service and leadership.
A powerful example of this connection is AB Jack Cornwell, a Scout who joined the Royal Navy during WW1. At just 16, he displayed incredible bravery at the Battle of Jutland, staying at his post despite being mortally wounded. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions, and his story continues to inspire generations of both Scouts and service members.
There are many Scouts who go on to serve in the Armed Forces, carrying those same values with them throughout their careers. The link between the two is truly something special.
To all those who serve, have served, and will serve. Thank you. Happy Armed Forces Day! ... See MoreSee Less

To all our amazing parents, carers and families – thank you.
This evening, while chatting with other Scout leaders from around the country, the topic turned to the support we receive from the families in our groups. Some shared how rarely they get thanks or recognition, and it really made me pause and reflect.
Here at Team6th, we are incredibly lucky. Time and time again, we receive kind messages, thoughtful emails, and words of encouragement from so many of you – and tonight, I just want to say a proper thank you in return.
Thank you for your constant support – for the lifts across the South Coast at all hours, for signing permission slips, for helping pack (and repack) rucksacks, and for nodding patiently when your young person tells you last-minute they need a whole new kit list by tomorrow. Thank you for every "well done" shared, for every "thank you" said to our volunteers, and for standing in the rain, cheering them on, or waving them off with a brave smile.
And yes – thank you for buying yet another waterproof coat… despite the last one being labelled three times, GPS-tagged, and still somehow lost to the wilds by little Johnny. We feel your pain!
But most of all, thank you for sharing your young people with us. Without them, there would be no Scouting. And without your support, they wouldn’t be there. You are every bit as much a part of #team6th as the young people and the volunteers.
We see you. We appreciate you. And we’re very, very grateful to have you as part of our Team6th family.
⏰ What a 15 hours! 42 Cubs, plus 2 Beavers and a Scout completed the first (and maybe only!) Summer Solstice Hike!
☀️ we made crowns, sun catchers, plotted our route, made our trail mix, and had a campfire before a very late night and an even earlier start!
With a 2am alarm the Cubs hiked 3 miles to the top of Butser Hill, the highest point in Hampshire to see in the Summer Solstice and celebrating the Festival to complete their World Faith badge with the Sylvan Druids, and obligatory bacon sandwiches!
The sunrise was more beautiful than we could have ever hoped for, and it was certainly a camp to remember!
We finished with a sunrise breakfast to celebrate all things ‘Sol’
The incredible 12 volunteers have a very much needed do not disturb for the rest of the day and after 2 hours sleep we expect there to be some very tired Cubs!
The Cubs were simply phenomenal, showing their resilience, teamwork, and their independence! We are exhausted and so very tired but incredibly proud of what they achieved ... See MoreSee Less

It wasn’t just the Cubs camping this weekend!
The Scouts took part in a the traditional camping competition the Elles Shield.
They should be very proud with their 4th place finish as a very young group of Scouts, and also losing a member of the team last minute.
The Camp Legends should be very proud of themselves and their effort ... See MoreSee Less

I iron mine! 😊😂😂
I'm just happy if Dylan comes home with a sleeping bag to be honest. Doesnt matter how it gets here.
I used to roll, then a longer serving scout pointed out it's a stuffa sack, so stuff it is!
Always stuff!
Stuff gets my vote!
Is laying on it, squashing it and saying a few naughty words not the way to go about it? Oh and you must remember to sort out the dangly bits!!!
Stuff it. 1 it’s quicker 2 it doesn’t damage the fibers in more expensive ones
Its a stuff sack! I always used to roll then wondered why certain parts always seemed cool, so became a stuff convert!

Huge thanks to Kit who organised a communications night. Squirrels learnt ways to communicate through:
- the phonetic alphabet
- flags
- cup and string
- morse code
We also discussed contacting the emergency services if need be. We’ve set them some challenges:
- to memorise their address in case they need to call emergency services
- remember their name in the phonetic alphabet
🐿️
We also welcomed 9 new Squirrels across both dreys!
Welcome to #team6th! ... See MoreSee Less
