The King’s Award for Voluntary Service
We are incredibly proud that 6th Gosport Scout Group has been awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service — the highest award given to local volunteer groups in the UK, and the equivalent of an MBE for voluntary organisations.
What is KAVS?
The King’s Award for Voluntary Service recognises outstanding volunteer-led groups that make a real difference in their local communities. It is often described as the MBE for voluntary groups and is awarded for life.
For Team6th, this award recognises the dedication of our volunteers, the opportunities created for young people, and the positive impact the group has across Gosport and the wider community.
Why Team6th received the award
- Supporting hundreds of young people aged 4 to 18.
- Providing adventure, skills, friendship and fun.
- Creating opportunities that many young people may never otherwise experience.
- Building confidence, resilience and leadership.
- Supporting the local community through service, remembrance, fundraising, events and inclusion.
- Being run by volunteers who give their time freely.

This award belongs to every volunteer, young person, parent, carer, supporter and friend of 6th Gosport Scout Group who has helped make Team6th what it is today. It recognises the countless hours given by our volunteers, the trust placed in us by families, and the achievements of the young people who make the group so special.
